If you’re a regular connoisseur of good music, you definitely have your own idea of some great music groups. However, there is something to be said about iconic rock bands and the sales that they make on whether or not they are the greatest bands of all time. Today, we’re going to be talking about some of the greatest bands of all time

Queen

Even though Freddy Mercury passed on in 1991, Queen has still risen in popularity. Queen is widely known as the kings of arena rock and pop-rock. Songs such as We Are the Champions and We Will Rock You are fan favorites, albeit a little overplayed. You can’t go to a sporting event without hearing Freddy Mercury’s iconic call and response or one of their rocking anthems. With $147.6 million in sales and their iconic works on Flash Gordon and Highlander, not to mention the Oscar-nominated biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, it’s no surprise that Queen is one of the bands you may think of when talking about the greatest of all time.

Nirvana

Kurt Cobain is undoubtedly one of the biggest breakout stars of Nirvana, but let’s not forget Dave Grohl. Since Kurt’s passing, Dave Grohl has risen in stardom, having played a number of instruments and even singing vocals for a number of different bands. Nirvana’s breakout song was Smells Like Teen Spirit, released in 1991. Nirvana was even inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first eligible year in 2014. They even knocked the King of Pop, Michael Jackson’s album Dangerous from the top spot on the Billboard charts with their hit abum Nevermind.

The Beatles

No greatest bands list would be complete without this British gem. Even though the band only had a ten-year run from 1960 to 1970, The Beatles are still heralded as the best-selling artists of all time, and that’s not even accounting for their solo albums or the bands that they’ve had on the side. These band members were incredibly talented, winning awards, starring in and producing movies, and even holding records for having the most covered song of all time. The iconic songwriting duo of Lennon-McCartney is definitely one of the most successful, if not the most successful, writing team ever. Over their ten-year tenure, they delved into a number of different genres, from pop to rock, and their music had evolved as they grew up in the hippy era. If Queen wasn’t your first thought for the greatest band of all time, The Beatles are it without a doubt.
