During times of a Pandemic, it is essential to prioritize socially distancing. With this, means no large public gatherings, hence no concerts. However, technology has been a way for us to connect with things we have missed out on from ordinary life. Live streaming and concert films can help to ease our nostalgia, so let’s take a look at some of the top live concert films of all time.

Amazing Grace (2018)

After having to go through multiple troubles just to be released, this film truly is amazing. It documents the beautiful soul singer Aretha Franklin and her musical process. We get to watch how she recorded her 1972 album, Aretha Franklin. The album features support from a gospel choir in front of a church audience at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles. This film shows Aretha in her prime, and you can feel the extremely personal and exuberant energy when she sings songs such as “Amazing Grace.” The performance is something that is unforgettable and can be streamed on Hulu.

Sign O’ The Times (1987)

This movie highlights Prince’s expert guitar work, masterful dance moves, and extravagant costumes and is filmed at Paisley Park. The film is self-directed, and Prince originally wanted it to feature his experience during his 1987 tour. However, this left Prince unsatisfied, and instead, we get to see his musical process inside his home studio. The set includes a gospel version of Little Red Corvette, Play in the Sunshine, and U Got the Look. You can watch this film on Amazon Prime.

Fleetwood Mac: The Dance (1997)

Also streaming on Amazon Prime, this MTV Special documents the reunion of Fleetwood Mac members Stevie Nicks, Christine Mcvie, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, and Lindsey Buckingham. The members have had a history of public feuds, so it’s heartwarming to see them come together again to perform songs that have put smiles on people’s faces for years. The film features hits such as Rhiannon, Don’t Stop, and the beloved Dreams and new tracks by some of the members. The USC Marching Band backs some of the tracks, and the opening new rendition of “The Chain” proves to be one to remember.
